Magical Horses

Marshall Ash Village, Stratton, CO

June 25, 2011. Marshall Ash Village was just as described in the travel guides. A small RV park just off I70. Registration was in the Conoco gas station, and we were greeted by a friendly couple and their tiny daughter. We guess that the park was built when I70 went through and it is clearly designed for a one night stay. All the parking places were in one long row and each had water, electric, sewer, a tree and a table. The laundry had new machines and the bathrooms and showers were clean. We had full hook ups for $25. BUT we were the ONLY guests! All night.

For entertainment, we drove 18 miles to nearby Burlington and visited the nearly 100-year old carousel. We bought a 25 cent token, put it in a pickle jar, and climbed aboard along with five or six youngsters and their adults. Vince and I chose a "lounge" seat and were quickly entranced by the music and amazing animals on the device. As the carousel went faster and faster, I looked over at Vince and he had the cutest smile...and I realized that I had a funny smile too. We had become little kids again! After the ride was over we stayed and took a few photos. He has given me previews of his photos and they are amazing. (I'm sure they will be posted a bit later) Mine are for memories. Here they are:

In the evening we sat under "our" tree, sipping wine and watching the traffic at the Conoco station. We are retired and can do what we want!
