Lake of the Ozarks State Park, Missouri
Wednesday, June 29, 2011.When I realized how close to Kansas the Ozark Mountains really are, I wondered if they have long been a destination for Kansas vacationers. Very different from Kansas with lots of greenery, great rolling hills and cliffs, and beautiful stretches of water like Lake of the Ozarks. I wondered if the Ozarkscould have influenced Frank Baum in writing the Wizard of Oz and other Oz books. Oz..Ozarks..."not in Kansas any more."
We definitely weren't in Kansas any more and had a great hike along the lake before supper. Lots of humidity, our clothes were drenched! Our little air-conditioned trailer was welcome...for sure. The water sparkled and there was grass and moss and ground covers everywhere. We sat under a tree in the evening and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the peace of the place.
